The official rulebook controls sanctioned play; this is a plain-language recreational summary.
Call the complete score. Serve from behind the baseline into the diagonally opposite service court. A serve on the Kitchen line is out.
The receiver lets the serve bounce. The serving side then lets the return bounce. After that, either side may volley.
You may enter the Kitchen for a bounced ball. Do not volley while touching the zone or its line, and do not let volley momentum carry you in.
Return the ball before its second bounce in standard standing play. A ball on a line is in, except a serve on the Kitchen line.
Common faults include a bad serve, out ball, double bounce, early volley, Kitchen volley, live net touch, or a live ball striking a player anywhere except either hand below the wrist while that hand is touching the paddle.
Call out only when you clearly see space between the ball and line. If partners disagree, the ball is in.

It names the standard scoring boundary, while the separate pickleball scoring guide and printable explains doubles, singles, 0-0-2, server turns, and the provisional rally-scoring alternative.
