What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks a browser to store. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and identifiers used to maintain a secure session or remember a setting. Some expire when the browser closes; others remain for a defined period.
Free-access cookie
After you submit the email access form, Pocket Pickle Guides sets the essential ppg_access cookie for 30 days. It lets the server recognize that this browser may open the interactive tools and protected PDF downloads without asking again during that period. It contains an expiration time and a random signed value, not your email address. The cookie uses Secure, HttpOnly, and SameSite=Lax protections when transmitted over HTTPS.
Blocking or deleting this cookie prevents the site from remembering access. Using another browser or device requires another request. Submitting the access form does not create a password account.
Essential site and security technologies
The hosting platform, WordPress, forms, and security controls may process essential identifiers to deliver pages, protect forms, limit abuse, maintain administrator sessions, and investigate technical problems. Blocking these technologies may prevent a form or protected feature from working.
WooCommerce cookies
Paid checkout is not active for the current free guide library. If checkout is enabled later, WooCommerce may use cookies or browser storage to remember cart contents, associate a shopper with a session, show the correct checkout state, and support account login. These would be used to provide a store action the shopper requests, not to build an advertising profile.
Free tools and preferences
The interactive pickleball tools run in the browser. They do not send tool answers or generated results to the Pocket Pickle Guides database. A tool may hold temporary interface state while a page is open; clearing or closing the page may remove it.
Optional analytics
After Analytics consent, Google Analytics 4 may receive online identifiers, browser and device details, approximate location, referring pages, and page interactions to help improve guides and tools. The Google Analytics library and its measurement requests are blocked before consent. Advertising, remarketing, tracking pixels, and nonessential third-party embeds are not required for the current experience.
